Homemade Deodorant (2 Different Ways)

Homemade Deodorant 2 Different Ways (baking soda free)

Deodorants are getting a bad rap these days.

And so they should.

Most on the market try to stop us from actually perspiring which is our bodies natural way or detoxing and releasing toxins.

And the other ones are putting toxic chemicals into some of the most sensitive and sacred places.  This causes havoc on our body and can lead to some very insane health concerns.

Just type in chemical toxicity of store bought deodorant and your mind will actually be blown.

So here TWO DIFFERENT easy deodorant (and yes I truly mean easy) recipes that you can make to keep your underarms, healthy, happy and smelly great!

Super Simple Deodorant OPTION #1

  • In a double broiler melt (a pot with water and a bowl or large glass container):

  • * 1/4 cup Shea butter (if you do not have shea butter then you can so 1/2 cup coconut oil and 1/4 cup beeswax)

  • * 1/4 cup coconut oil* 1/3 cup beeswax

  • Once melted:Turn off heat but keep the container resting in the water and mix in rapidly:

  • * 1/4 cup arrowroot powder or cornstarch

  • * 2 tbsp baking soda (omit if you have sensitive underarms)

  • * 20 drops dōTERRA essential oils
Recommendations for this recipe are 15 drops of Wild Orange, 5 drops of Cedarwood and 5 drops of Arborvitae

Notes:This recipe Made two small jars for me. Approv 500mlI kept mine in jars which I have learned is super annoying to apply and would have much preferred to pack this recipe into actual deodorant jars but I did not have any.

Regardless of the container you use:  Add to jars. Cool for 6-8 hours before adding a lid. Store extra in the fridge.

Magnesium + Bentonite Clay Deodorant OPTION #2

  • 4 Tablespoons of Raw Shea Butter or Cacao Butter

  • 1 Tablespoon Beeswax Pastilles

  • 4 Tablespoons of Arrowroot Powder

  • 4 Tablespoons of Bentonite Clay or Green Clay

  • 1 Tablespoons of Magnesium Oil

  • 15-30 Drops of dōTERRA Essential Oils (only the purest and best oils you will find on the planet)

  • You can easily double or triple this recipe and store excess in the fridge.

  • Make sure one of the oils you use is a cleaning oil or a citrus oil.

  • This specific blend was 8 drops of Melaleuca Tea Tree Oil, 8 drops Lavender, 5 drops Wild Orange, 5 drops Ylang Ylang and it smells heavenly.

  • Melt the coconut oil, beeswax and shea butter in a double boiler.

  • Remove from heat when melted.

  • Mix in the arrowroot and clay into the wet mixture with an immersion blender. Immersion Blender is a necessary tool for mixing all of the ingredients together.

  • Ever so slowly pour in the magnesium oil while mixing with the immersion blender and mix until the mixture becomes creamy. This means you have properly emulsified the mixture.
