I have always loved the spa feeling.  

The feeling of zen!  

Like you are in your own little oasis.  

So I really wanted to share all of my DIY Recipes to Create Your All Natural At Home Spa.  

Let me tell you why.......

As I write this post I currently live in Alsace France.  

One of the great things about living here in Europe is part of their culture is relaxing at a spa.

I know what you are thinking if you live in North America.....you are thinking really posh places where the menu will cost you a small fortune to have someone pamper you.

Well it is not like that here.  

For less than 20 Euros you can spend an entire day at a spa where there are anywhere from 5-10 different pools, saunas, hot tubs and steam rooms.  

Not only are their quiet rooms where you can nap but they also have a wide program where they offer yogurt scrubs or musical entertainment.

It really is a slice of paradise and is very hard to leave.It is hard to re-create a place like that.  

But I have learned since being a mom that you have to create your own oasis to rescue yourself from the madness.

So I have out these recipes together to give you the ultimate Stay-cation in your bathroom.

DIY Recipes to Create Your All Natural At Home Spa:

  1. My son is in bed and hubby knows I am hanging the invisible do not disturb sign

  2. Candles lit (organic beeswax are the best - and of course scent free)

  3. Soft music playing (no heavy metal here ladies)

  4. Bubbly water with 1 drop lemon essential oil (who am I kidding this is actually red wine)

  5. Facial Mud Mask (if you don't like making your own here is a detoxifying one already done)

  6. Brown Sugar Body Scrub (buy a pre-made scrub here)

  7. Hot detox bath (no more than 20 min) with 1 drop each of Serenity Calming Blend, Lavender and Juniper Berry (makes the whole bathroom smell like a spa)

  8. Hair mask (while soaking in tub)

  9. Wash with body wash (I use this one but there is a DIY one below)

  10. Wash face with honey scrub

  11. Moisturizing facial serum

  12. Hydrating Facial Cream (I use this one but there is a DIY one below)

  13. Root to Tip Hair Serum (DIY below but nothing has ever compared this this one right here - AMAZING)

  14. Replenishing body butter (heaven in a jar here and DIY below)

  15. Diffuser going in my room with Vetiver and Ylang Ylang

  16. Tuck myself into bed and sleep like its my job!

Notes

  • * In my opinion the bath is a must (I have included a hand and foot soak just in case you are not into baths)

  • * Book is optional (although tough to read in candlelight)

  • * I prefer to have a detox bath but just in case you prefer bubble both recipes are here

  • Some of these recipes it is ideal to make ahead (body scrub, body butter etc) but you can also just use what you already have and leave out or substitute what you don't.

Moisturizing Brown Sugar Scrub

Moisturizing Brown Sugar Body Scrub

  • 3/4 cup organic brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup organic coconut oil

  • 10 drops essential oil

Add all ingredients to the jar you will be storing in.  Mix well.
Add to dry skin in the tub before a shower or a bath for best results and ultra moisturized skin.
Be careful, this may make your tub slippery (but oh so worth it)

Detoxifying Salt Scrub

  • 1/2 cup ground Epsom Salt

  • 1/4 cup baking soda

  • 1/2 - 3/4 cup organic coconut oil

  • 10 drops essential oil

Add all ingredients to the jar you will be storing in. 

Mix well.

Add to dry skin in the tub before a shower or a bath for best results and ultra moisturized skin.
Be careful, this may make your tub slippery (but oh so worth it)

Oil Hack: I use this as a one stop total body daily scrub. I use it to clean my face and moisturize my entire body. It is amazing to travel with.

Natural Bath Bubbles

Bubble Bath

  • 1 cup unscented castile soap

  • 1/2 cup vegetable glycerin

  • 2 tablespoons water

  • 15 drops of your favourite essential oil

Combine castile soap, glycerin, and water into glass bowl.  Add essential oils.  Stir slowly until well combined.  Pour into glass container. To use, add 1/4-1/2 cup of bubble bath mixture to warm, running bath water.Note: These bubbles are not going to provide big fluffy bubbles that last a long time since but still a great way to have enjoy a non toxic bubble bath.

Oil Hack: If you have dōTERRA’s body wash you can use it as a natural alternative to bubble bath. Bonus, it helps to balance PH ;-)

Grounding + Calming Detox Bath

Detox Bath

  • 1 cup of Epsom salt

  • 1/2 cup baking soda

  • 3- 6 drops of your favourite oil or blends.

I alternate between these oils:

  • AromaTouch Massage Blend

  • DDR Prime Cellular Complex Blend

  • Lavender

  • Serenity Calming Blend

  • Ylang Ylang

  • Vetiver

  • Wild Orange

My favourite oils to blend together are:

  • AromaTouch Massage Blend + Ylang Ylang.

  • Serenity Calming Blend, Lavender + Juniper Berry.

  • Spikenard, Cedarwood + Serenity.

  • DDR Prime + Zendocrine.

Run the hottest bath you can handle.  Add all ingredients.  Mix well. Soak for 15-20 minutes.To increase detoxing, drink lemon water as often as you can while in the tub.

Clay Mask

  • 2 teaspoons bentonite clay

  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar

  • 1 drop Frankincense

  • 1 drop Lavender

Combine clay and vinegar in a glass bowl with a wooden mixing stick and stir until well combined.Add essential oils.Apply to clean skin, avoiding the areas around eyes and mouth. You want to make this very thick.Let sit for 5-15 minutes.  You do not want this to be completely dry - that means it is taking the water out of your skin.  You want to rinse it off at the stage when it goes from tacky to starting to be dry.  For me it is about the 10 min mark if I apply the entire mask that I have made to my face.Rinse with warm water and follow with serum and moisturizer.

Deep Hair Conditioner

  • 3 Tablespoons Coconut Oil

  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil

  • 8 Drops of Essential Oils of your choice (Lavender, Peppermint, Rosemary, Geranium, and Clary Sage are great options)

Put 3 tablespoons coconut oil, 1 tablespoon olive oil, and essential oils into mixing bowl.   Mix on medium/high speed for 5 minutes or until the ingredients are whipped to a thick and creamy consistency.Once whipped, apply to clean dry hair. Comb through with a wide tooth comb to evenly distribute. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Rinse, shampoo and style as desired.Repeat once a week or as often as you desire.

Body Wash

  • 3 Tablespoons liquid castille soap

  • 3 Tablespoons raw honey

  • 2 Tablespoons fractionated coconut oil

  • 10-20 drops of essential oil of choice (orange is awesome)

Add all ingredients into your container and shake well to mix thoroughly.Mix well before each use.To maximize this body wash use with a sponge.

Honey Face Scrub

  • 3 tablespoons honey

  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • 2 drops each lemon and Melaleuca

Mix thoroughly and apply to a warm face for cleanse the pores and moisturize face.  Rinse off and pat face dry with a towel.  Follow with facial toner if desired.

Facial toner

  • 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 2 Tbsp water (more if skin is sensitive)

  • 4 drops essential oil (such as lavender, geranium, frankincense)

Pour ingredients into glass spray bottle. Shake well before each use.  Mist onto clean face.  Wipe or pat dry.

Natural Hack: You can also just purchase Rose water and use that as an all natural toner that doesn’t smell like vinegar ;-)

Facial Serum

Facial Serum

  • In an empty 15ml bottle add:

  • 10 drops of Blue Tansy

  • 10 drops of Copaiba

  • 10 drops of Frankinsense

  • 10 drops of Yarrow|Pom

  • 1/4 of the Rose Touch Roller

  • Top with Fractionated Coconut Oil or your preferred facial oil

Apply to face after cleansing and toner.

Homemade Face cream

  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil

  • 9 tablespoons shea butter

  • 9 drops Frankincense

Mix coconut oil into shea butter with a spoon or heat in a double broiler to mix thoroughly.   Add your essential oil drops and mix again. Store in a small glass jar.

Body Butter

  • 1 cup shaved Cocoa Butter

  • Approximately 1 to 2 tablespoons of Almond Oil (or Coconut Oil)

  • 8 drops of Vitamin E oil (optional)

  • 8 drops of Essential Oil

Soften Cocoa Butter in the microwave if yours is hard.  Do this by melting it in 5 second intervals.  You want it soft like butter.  Whip the cocoa butter with a mixer.  Slowly add almond oil until you have your desired consistency.  Add in the Vitamin E oil and your essential oils and stir together to fully incorporate. Store in an airtight container.

Moisturizing Hair Serum

Hair Serum

  • I/4 cup water

  • 1 Tablespoons Natural Aloe Vera Gel

  • 5 drops each of Clary Sage, Rosemary, Lavender, Geranium, and Rosemary

  • 1 tablespoon Fractionated Coconut Oil or Argan Oil

Combine in a glass container with a dropper lid or into a spray bottle. Add mix to your fingertips and work into your ends.  If your hair loves this and drinks it up you can go from root to tip.  Try just ends first and gradually work higher up the hair shaft each time you use it.Less is best!

Oil Hack: If you don’t want to make this because you fear grease head you can purchase one already done that is light and beautiful form dōTERRA called the Root to Tip Serum (amazeballs).

Peppermint Foot Soak

  • 2 cups of Epsom salts

  • 1/2 cup baking soda

  • 5 drops of peppermint essential oil

Combine Epsom salts with 1/2 cup baking soda and add your essential oils. Stir with a spoon or stick to mix thoroughly. Pour the mixture into a jar and use within a few weeks.Store in a cool dark place.

Lemon Hand Soak

  • 1 cup hot water

  • 1 tsp honey

  • 2 drops Lemon

Mix all ingredients well in a small dish.  If you want to soak both hands at the same time make this recipe twice in two separate bowls.Soak for 10 min.

Facial Steam

  • 3 cup hot water

  • 2 drops Eucalyptus

Place hot water and oil in a large bowl.  Place your face over the bowl and cover your head and the bowl with a light towel.  Steam your face and breathe in the soothing air.  (Pretend you are in a steam room).
